Steps to Take Your HPV PCR Test

1. Preparation

  • - Undress from the waist down.
  • - Remove your underwear
  • - Remove the swab out of its plastic tube - twist and pull.
  • - Avoid touching/contaminating the tip.

2. Holding the Swab

  • - Hold the swab at the red line.
  • - Get into a comfortable position by lifting one leg up on a higher surface and squat slightly.

3. Inserting the Swab

  • - Insert the swab at a 45 degree angle into your vagina, aiming to insert no further than the red line.

4.Taking the Sample

  • - Rotate the swab gently 15 times. You might feel slight discomfort but there should not be any pain.
  • - If you encounter any difficulty, inform the ROSE staff or your healthcare provider.

5. Returning the Swab

  • - Put the swab back into the tube.
  • - Put the tube back into the zip lock bag.
  • - Return the bag to the ROSE staff or your healthcare provider.
